Three Arrested For Romance Scam

Three suspected romance scammers have been arrested by the National Cybercrime Centre of the Nigeria Police Force.

This was disclosed in a statement by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Spokesperson, via the Force X (formerly Twitter) account.

The statement made it known that the suspects, Chigozie Okorie, 34, Jideofor Sejus, 35, Njoku Kingsley, 35, were apprehended after investigations showed their involvement in a series of deceptive practices, perpetrated by impersonating an individual named Anthony James.

Under this deceptive practices, the suspects individually targeted victims, engaging in romance scams to defraud them of their hard-earned resources.

The three suspects, in voluntary written statements, admitted to engaging in the criminal conspiracy.

The statement added: “Consequently, members of the cyber community as a borderless state are enjoined to exercise great restraint or totally shy away from establishing resource-exchanging relationships in the social media space.

“The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”
