Three people reportedly lost their lives in a multiple-vehicle road accident in Edo State over the weekend.
The crash occurred on the Auchi–Okpella–Okene road, near Omega Fire Ministry in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area,

The accident involved a Dangote truck and three other vehicles, including a Mercedes GLK, which was said to have been damaged beyond repair. The truck, heading towards Benin, reportedly rammed into the three vehicles, killing three people and injuring one.
The deceased were identified as two males and one female.
Confirming the incident, Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, attributed the crash to brake failure.
He said, “The truck had a brake failure, and in the process, rammed into three vehicles, killing three persons and injuring one.”
Mathew added: “Six persons were involved in the accident, three died including two male and one female adults while two others escaped unhurt. Four people were in the Mercedes, three of them died and one injured.”
He urged truck drivers to ensure proper maintenance of their vehicles and to be more conscious of other road users, advising them to avoid overspeeding so that vehicles can be more easily controlled in case of mechanical failures.
