Video: Iranian Governor Slapped in The Face During Inauguration Speech

A newly appointed governor of a province in Iran was slapped across the face by an angry man.

The new governor, who is former IRGC provincial commander was slapped by a military officer during his inauguration ceremony on Saturday.

Abedin Khorram, who was appointed as Governor of East Azerbaijan Province, was slapped by “a member of the armed forces” in the presence of Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi.

According to a report by Fars, the military officer’s action was attributed to having personal issue with Governor Khorram.

The new governor in his explanation the officer was angry because “a man [not a woman] had administered his wife’s Covid-19 vaccine”.

The officer’s anger is in line with Islamic rules, which states that opposite sexes who are not immediate family members should not touch one another.

Quizzed on how the perpetrator gained entrance to the venue, Khorram said there obviously was lapse of security, saying officials will investigate that.

Khorram was commander of Revolutionary Guards in the same province until he was appointed governor.
