The United States (US) has asked TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, to sell its US operations to an American buyer or face a ban.

President Joe Biden recently signed a law that could lead to TikTok being banned in the US within a year.

The concern is that the app’s data could be exposed to the Chinese government, posing a risk to national security.

TikTok has been facing bans or restrictions in several countries over data privacy and security concerns.

Other countries like India, Afghanistan, Iran, China, North Korea, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia have already implemented various bans or restrictions on TikTok over privacy, security, or moral concerns.

While some have complete bans, others have targeted specific features or aspects of the App.
