President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have lauded the Super Falcons for bringing honour to Nigeria, despite their elimination from the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Super Falcons exited the tournament after a Round of 16 loss to England’s Three Lionesses at the Brisbane Stadium in Queensland, Australia on Monday.

The President tweeted,

“I must commend the effort by our Super Falcons @NGSuper_Falcons at the FIFA Women’s World Cup,”

“Your brilliant performance did not go unnoticed despite the final outcome. You made Nigeria proud on the global stage!”

Atiku as well tweeted,

“We may have lost to England in a penalty shootout, but the @NGSuper_Falcons have every reason to hold their heads high.”
