Tinubu’s Camp Appointed Mahmood Yakubu INEC Chairmam – Ameachi

Former Minister of Transportation and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that the a member of Bola Tinubu’s camp recommended Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for reappointment as chairman of the the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Amaechi also not argued that the opposition was not contesting against the Peoples Democratic Party, but against INEC and the police in Rivers State.

The former governor said this while addressing journalists after casting his vote at Ward 8, Unit 17 in Ubima Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

He also noted that he and others had opposed the reappointment of INEC National Chairman, Yakubu Mahmood, revealing that the latter was recommended for reappointment by someone in the camp of the president elect, Bola Tinubu.

He said that under such circumstances, one does not expect success in the election.

Some of us were opposed to the reappointment of Mohmood. The person who nominated him is Tinubu’s camp. So, what are you expecting? Success?

“Here in Rivers State, Mahmood Yakubu Mamood worked under Wike as Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund.

“So, what you are having in Rivers State is that APC, SDP and others are contesting elections not against PDP but against INEC, against police.”
