The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies will soon provide relief to Nigerians amid the current economic challenges.
Speaking during the distribution of subsidy removal palliatives and free medical services at the Omidokun Hall, Ayetoro, in Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, Salako assured Nigerians that the government’s efforts to address food security and provide basic healthcare will bear fruit in the near future.
“The various steps taken by the government, such as the distribution of rice and fertilisers, are intended to ease the hardship many Nigerians are facing. We are confident that the days of economic hardship will soon be behind us,” Salako stated.
The minister explained that 1,300 bags of rice and 600 bags of fertiliser were distributed across the five local government areas in the Ogun West Senatorial District. This was done to ensure that party members, market women, religious groups, traditional rulers, and farmers received support. He emphasized that the distribution was designed to avoid chaos and stampedes, ensuring orderliness by assigning specific individuals to collect the items.

“Thirty percent of the palliatives are designated for party members, while others, including the market women represented by the Iyaloja, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Muslim Communities, are also beneficiaries.
We are also reaching out to community leaders and traditional rulers, all in an effort to ease the burden on our people,” Salako said.
In a message following President Tinubu’s Christmas address, Salako reiterated that the president’s words reflected optimism for the future.
“Mr. President’s message was one of hope and caution. He urged Nigerians to embrace the season with joy but also remain vigilant about their safety. He believes that, with the ongoing reforms, the nation will soon experience significant improvements,” he said.

“Things are improving, and we can already see signs of positive change. Nigerians should look forward to better days ahead,” Salako added.
