Tiwa Savage, the Nigerian singer, shared that the concept for her debut movie, ‘Water & Garri,’ came to her while she was under the influence. She revealed this during a pre-launch press conference held at the Livespot Entertainment Centre in Lagos.
Recalling the inception of the idea, Savage admitted, “I said this before, this is an idea I had in my head when I was drunk in my room,” expressing gratitude for her supportive team who embraced the concept without judgment.
‘Water & Garri’ premiered on Prime Video on May 10th, captivating audiences with its narrative centered around Aisha, portrayed by Tiwa Savage, as she navigates the changes in her hometown after years of absence.

The film features a talented cast including Andrew Bunting as Kay, Mike Afolarin as Mide, and Jemima Osunde as Stephany. Shot in Cape Coast, Ghana, the movie was directed by Meji Alabi, offering viewers a visually stunning and emotionally resonant cinematic experience.
