BREAKING: Tribunal Declares Caleb Mutfwang Winner of Plateau Guber Election
Caleb Mutfwang

The Plateau State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has affirmed Caleb Mutfwang as winner of the state’s governorship election.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Nentawe Goshwe of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

It ruled that Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was duly elected after securing the highest number of valid votes.

Goshwe had approached the Tribunal to challenge Mutfwang’s declaration as winner of the March 18 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The APC candidate argued that Mutfwang was not qualified to contest the election because he was not validly nominated and sponsored by the PDP, as the party had no structure at the time of the election.

Delivering judgment on Friday, the Tribunal dismissed the Petition for lacking in merit.

It further ruled that the PDP had a valid structure in place at the time of the election and that Mutfwang was duly nominated and sponsored by the party.

The Tribunal also held that the APC failed to prove its allegations of electoral irregularities.
