Troops Crush Terrorist Attack in Adamawa, Kill Several Insurgents in Fresh Offensive

- Joint Task Force troops repelled a planned terrorist attack in Adamawa State
- Several terrorists were killed during follow-up operations in Borno
- No casualties recorded among Nigerian troops
- Operation Hadin Kai intensified clearance operations after the attack
Troops of the Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai have recorded a major success after killing several terrorists in Adamawa and Borno States, following the disruption of coordinated attacks by insurgents in the North-East. The operation dealt a heavy blow to the fleeing terrorists and prevented what could have been a deadly assault on security formations.
The Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Solomon Atokolo, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday, describing the operation as a significant victory in ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.

According to him, the terrorists launched an attack in the early hours of January 16, 2026, targeting a patrol base at Sabon Gari in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State, under Sector 4 of Operation Hadin Kai.
Atokolo said the alertness of the troops prevented the attackers from gaining access to the base.
“The terrorists attempted to overrun the patrol base at Sabon Gari, but our troops swiftly engaged them with support from reinforcements deployed from Gulak and the Battalion Quick Reaction Force,” he stated.
He added that the intense resistance forced the terrorists to retreat, abandoning the attack without causing any damage or casualties to Nigerian troops or military equipment.
“The terrorists were successfully repelled without any casualty to own troops and equipment,” Atokolo said.
Following the failed assault, troops carried out aggressive follow-up operations, during which several of the fleeing terrorists were neutralised across parts of Adamawa and Borno States.
The military officer noted that the affected areas were thoroughly searched and cleared to eliminate threats to civilians and security personnel.
“The general area was cleared and scanned for Improvised Explosive Devices and possible booby traps to ensure the safety of troops and civilians,” he added.
The Nigerian military says Operation Hadin Kai remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace to communities across the North-East.
