Two Dead, Eight Injured as Bus Plunged into a River in Ogun | Daily Report Nigeria

Two people have been confirmed dead, while eight others sustained injury after a bus plunged into a river in Ogun State.

The bus, a Toyota Haice was reported to have plunged into Ososa River in Ogun State on Sunday night, November 21.

Confirming the incident, the Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Command, Florence Okpe, the incident occurred on the Benin-Ore Expressway in the Odogbolu Local Government Area of the state at about 9:30 pm.

According to Florence, the accident occurred due to failed breaks which led to the loss of control of the vehicle before it plunged into the river. She explained that the fatal crash involved two vehicles with registration number APP86 7XZ a Toyota Haice Bus and a truck with registration number, KJA376 XN .

 

Florence also added that a total number of 10 persons were involved in the accident, five males and five females. She cautioned motorists on excessive speed especially at night when visibility is poor.
