The management of the University of Ibadan (UI) has directed all students to vacate the campus by 2 pm on Saturday, following a protest over the hike in tuition fees by the institution’s Governing Council.

The students had staged a peaceful protest on Friday, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “We Say No Tuition Hikes” and “The Management Is Insensitive To Our Plights”.

According to the institution’s registrar, G. O. Saliu, the closure is effective Saturday, August 31, 2024, till September 20, 2024.

The students have resolved to reconvene and resume their peaceful protest until their demands are met.
