Update: Troops Rescue Abducted Lawyer, Others In Benue | Daily Report Nigeria
  • Troops of the Nigerian military have successfully secured the rescue eight abducted people in Benue state.

  • Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the troops, in a joint operation rescued a lawyer, a corp member and six other people.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that about a month ago a group of unknown gunmen had abducted some people in a community along the Taraba-Benue border between Wukari and Zaki-Biam in the Ukum local government area of Benue State.

The troop, who are from the military base camp in Zaki-Biam rescued the victims during the operation Whirl Stroke.

While parading the rescued victims before their base camp, one of the military officers who pleaded anonymity identified the victims as Samuel Muekera (29 years old), Mr. Anaelechi Bob (32 years old), Ayuba Luka (28 years old), Ibrahim Umar (30 years old), Rabiu Muhammad (48 years old), Buhari Ahmadu Saleh (17 years old), and Blessing Ayuba (47 years old).

 

He added that one of the victims is Rabiu Muhammad, who had come to pay ransom for his cousin, but was also abducted.

Some of the victims who spoke to The Nation said they were kidnapped while travelling along the Zakibiam-Wukari road and remained in the kidnappers’ den for more than one month before the military came to their rescue.

According to reports from The Nation, Blessing, who had also come to pay ransom for her kidnapped brother also turned into a victim.

A total of #20 million naira was collected from the families of those rescued.
