Nigerian activist and social media commentator VeryDarkMan has criticised what he describes as a lack of action by key figures and institutions following the tragic death of Ruth Otabor, sister of former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna.
Ruth died on Sunday from injuries sustained in a road accident involving a Dangote truck.
The Otabor family, through Eko Solicitors & Advocates, confirmed her passing. She had been receiving medical care after the crash near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State.

In a video shared on Instagram, VeryDarkMan accused President Bola Tinubu, the Dangote Group, and prominent Nigerians of failing to intervene when Ruth needed urgent medical attention. He said: “Phyna’s sister has finally kpai, a lot of people are lending their voices to the RIP but when we needed those voices to pressure Dangote to do the right thing, 19 days was what she spent at the hospital but many refused to post because it won’t give them engagement. You bunch are hypocrites, may God forgive your souls. Nigeria has failed us. President Bola Tinubu, you have failed us all. And to Dangote Group, are you happy now? You had the time to take that girl abroad to treat her.”
The Dangote Group, in its response, stated that it and its insurance partners had been covering all medical and related expenses since the accident. They added that plans were in place to transfer Ruth abroad for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance, but she passed away before that could happen.
