VIDEO: ‘No Money, No Voting,’ Women Protest Naira Scarcity in Edo

Angry women in Edo state on Wednesday took to the streets of Benin to protest against the ongoing scarcity of Naira notes in the country.

Viral videos monitored by Daily Report Nigeria saw the women declare there frustration at the continued naira scarcity.

The women, who turned out in their numbers announced they would not be casting their votes on election day if access to their money continues to be a problem.

Casualties recorded as residents protest against Naira scarcity

Not less than three persons were confirmed dead following the eruption of violent protests in different locations in the Edo State capital.

The protesters had attempted to break into the State branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) located along Akpakpava Street, but were resisted by a combined team of security operatives.

Reports indicate that an altercation between the security operatives and the protesters led to an open fire that caused multiple casulaties.

The development forced the protesters to attack commercial banks located in the area.
