The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that it will embark on a nationwide strike in January if the Federal Government fails to address its demands.
ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, disclosed this in an exclusive interview, stating that the union had given the government enough time to resolve the issues.
According to Osodeke, “We are still on the same old narrative, and as a union, it is time for us to take action on our proposed strike.”
He explained that the union’s congress had endorsed an industrial action, and the leadership would implement the decision if the government failed to act.

Osodeke noted that the renegotiation committee team constituted by the Federal Government had yet to provide feedback on the issues discussed.
“We have not heard anything from them now, more than two weeks after we concluded the meeting,” he said.
The ASUU president appealed to Nigerians for understanding, stating that the union embarks on strikes only when members have been pushed to the wall.
