The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has handed over motorcycles to various security agencies to enhance security efforts in hard-to-reach rural communities.

The handover ceremony took place in Abuja on Monday, where Wike allocated ten motorcycles to the six area councils within the FCT.

The police force received 30 motorcycles, while the State Security Service (SSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) each received five motorcycles.

The FCT Administration aims to enhance the mobility and effectiveness of security agencies in response to their requests.

Wike stressed that the motorcycles are specifically designated for use in challenging terrains and are part of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

He warned against any misuse of the motorcycles and urged the council leaders to ensure proper distribution to vigilante groups, adding that the FCT administration will provide necessary logistical support to the recipients.

The FCT Minister also warned that any motorcycles found within the city limits will be reclaimed as they were designed to primarily serve rural areas and penetrate difficult terrain.
