Former majority leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has said that winning elections in Nigeria is beyond the casting of ballot papers.
The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Kano State this during an interview with Channels TV while reacting to the controversy surrounding the Kano State Gubernatorial elections.
According to Doguwa, in a democratic setting like Nigeria, several things including rules and regulations are considered before a winner of an election is declared.

He stressed that the rule of law must be followed.
He said: “For me when you ask me about what is going on in Kano, the going on is usual, Kano has always been a progressive, proactive state in terms of politics and ideology,”
“Winning election can be contested to win an election under the laid down rules and regulations as provided in the electoral act and in the constitution of the Federal Republic Nigeria. It is also part of what you must have to abide by to win a free and fair election.
“Free and fair elections are not only about counting ballots alone more or less even when the votes were counted, yet there were some votes that were said to be illegal votes”.
