Kuje Prison Attack: Two Police Officers Arrested For Speaking With Escaped Terrorists After The Attack

Two Nigerian police officers have been put in detention for allegedly having a hand in the invasion of Kuje Prison in Abuja.

Terrorists had invaded a correctional facility in Abuja and freed hundreds of inmates including 64 Boko Haram members, an act that sent shock across the country.

President Muhammad Buhari, who visited after the scene on Wednesday expressed his disappointment at the officials, as he asked how strong their defense tactics were.

Hours after the president left, the Islamic State in West African Province, ISWAP claimed to be responsible for the attack, as they release a video showing tens of ISWAP fighters shooting their way into the facility.

The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency released the video with the caption: “Fighters of Islamic State attacked Kuje prison in Abuja yesterday and succeeded in freeing dozens of prisoners.”

In recent news, two police officers have been arrested after their communication with some of the escaped was intercepted.

Speaking to Daily Trust, a source said;

Two of the terrorists that escaped called a police investigation officer (IPO) in one of our stations and spoke to him in a compromising manner…They are now being investigated to know their level of complicity,”
