French footballer Wissam Ben Yedder convicted on Wednesday after a French court found him guilty of psychological violence against his estranged wife.

The former Monaco star was handed a fine of €90,000.

He skipped the hearing, and his lawyer, Marie Roumiantseva, said he will appeal.

This verdict leaves Ben Yedder convicted twice within 12 months.

In November a court gave him a two-year suspended sentence for sexual assault.

In 2023 a Spanish court handed him a six-month suspended term for tax fraud tied to his Sevilla spell.

French Court Convicts Wissam Ben Yedder Over Domestic Violence

He and his brother Sabri deny separate rape investigations opened in 2023.

Prosecutors had asked for an eight-month suspended sentence and a €10,000 fine.

Instead, the court fined him €90,000 and ordered him to pay an extra €60,000, split between damages and legal fees.

Ben Yedder’s lawyers say they will challenge the ruling and take the case to appeal.

Off the pitch, Ben Yedder has not played for a top European club since a short spell with Sepahan in Iran earlier this year.

The couple are divorcing, and the legal and personal turmoil now clouds his playing future.

With the appeal pending, “Wissam Ben Yedder conviction” will remain a major talking point for clubs, fans and the media.
