Withdraw Your Statement': Gov. Umahi Fires Fani-Kayode | Daily Report Nigeria

Dave Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, has refuted Femi Fani kayode assertion that he played a role in his (Umahi’s) defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

After meeting with President Buhari on Thursday, Fani-Kayode claimed responsibility for the defections of Governor David Umahi (Ebonyi) and Governor Ben Ayade (Cross River).

The former minister also stated that he was trying to bring three more PDP governors to join the ruling party.

Governor Umahi, on the other hand, stated that Fani-Kayode should retract his statement.

Fani-Kayode, he claims, is only a “man” who cannot influence a governor’s decisions.

Umahi said on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday that “I think he needs to withdraw that statement, he’s my good friend but, it was an insult on my person and the other governors,”

The man did not know when I moved, but incidentally he visited me and we discussed, and he said he was coming to join me with the other governors to declare.

“How will somebody in the PDP be instrumental to my moving?” Umahi asked.

He further stated that he joined to bridge gap between central and south east which our forefathers like Nnamdi Azikwe fought for. He played no role in my movement and I know he didn’t play any role in the movement of others.”
