The world’s largest cruise ship, “Icon of the Seas” is set to sail on January 27, 2024.

Built by Royal Caribbean International Shipbuilding in Finland, the ship can carry five thousand six hundred and ten passengers and two thousand three hundred and fifty crew members.

The maritime icon, according to reports, was five times larger and five times heavier than the 250,800-ton Titanic, which weighed 50,210 tons.

Daily Report Nigeria learnt that thousands of people have already booked tickets to be the first passengers.

Icon of the Seas officially sailed the blue oceans for the first time as she prepared for her long-awaited debut in 2024.

After completing its first round of European sea trials, Royal Caribbean Cruises’ newest and largest ship was one step closer to its maiden voyage next year.

The ship has since returned to the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, where more than four hundred and fifty experts tested the main engines, bow, propellers, and noise and vibration levels for the second set of ship inspections planned for 2023.

It was understood that Royal Caribbean designed the cruise ship to allow sailors to choose the best of the various types of vacations on board such as resort vacations, beach vacations, or theme park adventures.

Further attractions included a water park with six slides, seven full-size pools, a family water park, a pool bar, unique dining options, playgrounds, live music, and shows.

Royal Caribbean said in its latest press release:

“Every type of family and kind of adventurer can make memories together and on their own terms without compromise across record-breaking thrills, relaxing ways to chill, a neighborhood designed for young families, more than 40 ways to dine, drink and be entertained, and more.”

Another statement about the ship read:

“The first cruise is already sold out, but starting in January 2024, visitors can begin their journey in Miami and spend seven nights onboard the Icon sailing through eastern or western Caribbean with ports of call including the Bahamas, Mexico, Honduras St Maarten, and St Thomas.

“Royal Caribbean plans for Icon of the Seas to sail all year, so prices vary; but some start at about $1,700 per person.”
