Uche Onyeagocha, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for Imo East senatorial seat in the 2023 elections, has stated that it is wrong for the Federal government to appoint officials for the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He pointed out that INEC as the electoral body is no longer independent, adding that all political parties in the federation should have a representative in the body

Onyeagocha further said that he will enact laws that will stop the federal government of the exclusive right to appoint the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its officials.
