A group of Nigerians, united under the “Alliance For Emancipation and True Change,” held a peaceful protest in the United Kingdom (UK), urging President Bola Tinubu to ensure the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) remains impartial and doesn’t become a tool for political persecution.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the demonstration, organized by supporters of Yahaya Bello, coincided with a separate protest allegedly sponsored by the opposition in Kogi State, also in London.

The alliance criticized the opposition candidate, Murtala Ajaka, for allegedly sponsoring a misleading and counterproductive protest.

In a statement, the alliance called for a review of the EFCC’s operating procedures, selective investigations, unconstitutional media trials, and politicization of the commission’s activities.

They urged Tinubu to intervene and ensure the EFCC operates without bias.

Dr Shaibu Ojogbane and Chukwunonso Ezeani, representatives of the alliance said, “We trust that Mr. President will act swiftly to prevent a situation where his government is widely criticized for selective justice, human rights abuse, and related issues.“
