The Forum of National Youth Leaders of All Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) has condemned recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting possible military intervention in Nigeria, describing the statement as “unacceptable and dangerous.”
In a statement issued in Abuja by its Chairman, Comrade Eze Onyebuchi Chukwu, the forum expressed concern that Trump’s comments could undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty while aggravating tensions within the country.

While acknowledging Trump’s concern over the killings of Christians in parts of Nigeria, the group stressed that the focus should be on the safety and welfare of all Nigerians, irrespective of religion.
Quoting the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, the forum recalled: “Any insurgency that lasts more than 24 hours, the government has a hand in it,” blaming successive administrations for failing to decisively address insecurity.
“The lackadaisical attitude of successive governments towards solving insecurity in Nigeria is suggestive of their complicity,” the statement read.
The youth leaders called for joint efforts between national and international partners, advocating dialogue, intelligence sharing, technology transfer, and training support instead of unilateral actions.
They further noted that while killings occur in Christian-dominated regions such as Benue and Plateau, similar atrocities also happen in Muslim-majority states like Borno, Yobe, and Zamfara.
“We understand the global concern about victims of violence in Nigeria, but threatening military action against an independent nation is not the right approach,” the statement added.
The group warned that any foreign military intervention could worsen insecurity, escalate ethnic and religious divides, and destabilize Nigeria further.
It therefore called for constructive engagement between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Donald Trump to jointly tackle the root causes of insecurity.
“As Nigerian youths, we are committed to mobilizing young people across all regions to promote peace, unity, and proactive engagement,” the forum concluded.
