Borno State Governor, Babagana Umaru Zulum, has donated building materials and cash to 1,111 displaced families from 25 villages in the Jere Local Government Area of Borno state.

Following insurgents attacks on their settlement three years ago, the displaced families had fled their homes and took refuge at Maiduguri.

Governor Zulum during a ceremony to resettle the Internally Displaced Persons in Yawuri village, noted that the gesture would assist the IDP’s to rebuild their homes, get empowered and become independent.

Meanwhile, Commissioner for Reconstruction, Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Alhaji Mustapha Gubio, had said that IDP’s being resettled are those who had indicated interest to return to their homes.

Gubio said that the resettlement process was in line with accordance with the humanitarian principles and improved security in the region.
