10 States Get New Police Commissioners Over Insecurity

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment and posting of new Commissioners of Police (CPs) across 10 states including in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations in the Commission, disclosed in a statement that the appointments were due to rising insecurity across the country.

The newly appointed CPs are as follows:

  • CP Beneth Igwe: FCT Command.
  • Peter Ukachi Opara: Osun State.
  • Olughemiga Emmanuel Adesina: Benue State.
  • Akinwale Kunle Adeniran: Ekiti State.
  • Mohammed Umar Abba: Adamawa State.
  • Abaniwonda Surajudeen Olufemi: Delta State.
  • Ademola Waheed Ayilara: Akwa Ibom State.
  • David Iloyanomon: Taraba State.
  • Abayomi Oladipo Peter: Ondo State.
  • Hassan Abdu Yabnet: Plateau State.

Dr Solomon Arase, the PSC Chairman, warned the new CPs that the Commission will not accept any excuse for failure to provide effective and efficient leadership.

Insecurity has continued to surge in the country in recent times as two monarchs were killed in Ekiti State by gunmen.

Also, a few hours ago, two teenage sisters were kidnapped by unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits at Guita community, Chikakore in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
