The Kano State Police Command has arraigned a total of 106 thugs in different courts at Justice Aloma .M. Muktar and Justice A. B Wali Court complexes.

Confirming the incident in a statement released on Thursday, July 11, 2024, the spokesperson of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna confirmed that they successfully secured the convictions of the thugs, and 43 other suspects linked to offences of culpable homicide, kidnapping, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt were remanded with the trials ongoing.

“You will recall that on 4th of July 2024, a total of one hundred and forty-nine (149) suspects were paraded at the State Headquarters in Bompai Kano for offences of Culpable Homicide, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Thuggery Related Crimes following a clearance operation conducted between 24th to 4th July, 2024, ten (10) days of the assumption of duty of the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba,” 

“All the suspects were arraigned in various courts at Justice Aloma M. Mukhtar and Justice A. B. Wali Courts Complexes in Nomand-sland and Gyadi-Gyadi Quarters, Kano respectively, for prosecution.

“In a follow-up by the Command, a total of one hundred and six (106) suspects were successfully convicted for thuggery-related crimes with no option of fine, while forty-three (43) other suspects who were linked with capital offences of Culpable Homicide, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Causing Grievous Hurt were remanded with the trials ongoing

“The Kano Police Command will continue to remain resolute and steadfast towards fighting all forms of criminal activities and bringing the perpetrators to book. Moving forward, members of the public are urged to keep cooperating with the Command on this noble course to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the State

 

“Finally, the Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba appreciates the Judiciary as a critical part of the criminal justice system for their contributions to achieving this feat. 

“Their contribution is highly commendable and will also go a long way in curtailing criminal activities to the barest minimum in the State.”
