2021 AFCON: Stunners Cameroon Stage Extraordinary Comeback From 3-0 Down to Beat Burkina 5-3 on Penalties

The hosts of the latest edition of the African Cup Of Nations, Cameroon has done the impossible to ensure they won the third-place play-off on Saturday night.

The Indomitable Lions have caught Burkina Faso by surprise with an extraordinary comeback comeback from 3-0 down.

Toni Conceição’s men stole the show following a 5-3 victory on penalties after a 3-3 draw in full time.

Meanwhile, the hosts roared back with three goals in less than twenty minutes after Kamou Malo’s team had won 3-0 throughout the seventy minute of the game.

Thanks to Stephane Bahoken’s goal which rekindled Cameroon’s hope after putting the ball in the net to reduces the deficit to 3-1 in the 71st minute.

Vincent Aboubakar made history for himself following his late double goals which led the 5x Africa Cup of Nations winner to another victory against the Stallions.

The Al Nassr striker cancelled one goal to ensure they were just 3-2 behind following a fine header through Nicolas Moumi Ngamaleu’s assist in the 85th minute.

The 30-year-old eventually found a leveller two minutes later.

Meanwhile, the Cameroon captain, Aboubakar could be one of the greatest African footballers.

The former Beşiktaş star has thrown down the gauntlet in the race for the Africa Cup of Nations Golden Boot following his outstanding performance at the African tournament.

The striker who has scored six goals before his side’s clash against Burkina stepped it up to 8 after the match.

That has named the former Porto striker the highest goal scorer in the competition.

Also, Aboubakar has become the first player to grab more than five goals in the African Cup Of Nations in the 21st century.
