Wike’s statement comes after Atiku revealed that he had no regrets about not choosing Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
The rift between Atiku and Wike dates back to the 2022 PDP primaries, with Wike expecting to be compensated with the vice-presidential slot.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that he would ensure that former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, fails in his push for the presidency.
This statement comes after Atiku revealed that he had “no regrets” about not choosing Wike as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.
In an interview, Atiku explained that he deliberately left the decision to the PDP, which set up a committee to recommend three names.
The committee ranked Ifeanyi Okowa as the top choice, with Wike in second place and Udom Emmanuel in third. Atiku stated, “So I picked number one.”

Responding to Atiku’s statement, Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, wrote on X, “Two years after making the @OfficialPDPNig lose a presidential election it could have won, @atiku is giving reasons he did not pick @GovWike as his running mate and that he has no regrets. Someone should tell our serial presidential election contester that Wike also has no regret for ensuring that he failed in the election and will make sure that he fails again and again.”

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike has sent his condolences to the victims and casualties of the recent Abuja explosion.
This comes after the gruesome explosion which happened in Karu, Abuja on Wednesday, March 19.
