Seven governorship aspirants who participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary in Ondo State have declared their support for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The aspirants, including Morayo Lebi, Dayo Faduyile, Soji Ehinlanwo, Diran Iyantan, Mayowa Akinfolarin, Funmilayo Waheed-Adekojo, and Jimi Odimayo, made their positions known in a joint statement signed in Akure on Thursday.

According to the aspirants, their support for Aiyedatiwa is in the interest of peace and the party’s resounding victory in the November 16 poll.

They stressed that the party’s position is clear, and Aiyedatiwa is the gubernatorial candidate.

While acknowledging that perfection is a moving target, they urged party leaders to prioritize unity and put aside personal interests.

The aspirants called on their supporters, stakeholders, and other aspirants who participated in the primary to rally behind Aiyedatiwa, adding that victory for the party in the upcoming governorship election is of paramount importance.

They appealed to other aspirants and party members who were aggrieved to put aside their grievances and work towards the party’s collective victory.

The seven aspirants were among the 16 contenders who vied for the governorship ticket with Aiyedatiwa, who won the primary with 48,569 votes, defeating the remaining 15 aspirants.
