3 Unemployed Men Charged For Fighting in Public

A certain three “unemployed” men, Samson Hassan, Muawiya Hassan, and Arimiyau Adamu have been charged to court for fighting in public.

Samson Hassan, Muawiya Hassan, and Adamu were charged on Friday by police to a Grade I Area Court in Karu, Abuja for allegedly disturbing the public.

According to the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Edwin Ochayi the defendants committed the offence on April 2, in the A.Y.A area of Asokoro, Abuja.

Ochayi told the court that the
defendants engaged in a brawl that resulted in serious injuries- an act that violated Section 113 of the Penal Code.

Despite pleading not guilty, the Judge, Malam Umar Mayana granted bail to the defendants with two sureties each.

The sureties must live within the court jurisdiction and have their addresses verified by a court officer.

Additionally, the defendants must sign an undertaking to maintain public peace among themselves. The case was adjourned until May 22 for hearing.
