On Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu hosted the Super Eagles of Nigeria with the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) national award, as well as flats and land in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The announcement was made during a reception at the Council Chamber in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where Tinubu met with the players and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The delegation, led by Minister of Sports Development Senator John Owan Enoh, celebrated the Super Eagles’ achievement as runners-up in the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), hosted by Côte d’Ivoire.
In attendance were all team members, dressed in green attire, along with officials.

Also, Alex Iwobi, who faced cyber attacks following Nigeria’s loss to Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON final, was present.
The President, through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, praised the team, coach, crew, and management for their unwavering commitment and hard work throughout the tournament.
According to Ngelale, Tinubu State that despite the challenges they encountered, their performance consistently improved, culminating in their journey to the final.
He stated that the President has encouraged Nigerians to celebrate Super Eagles’ victory, adding that the team’s’ determination and resilience had secured an unforgettable place in the hearts of Africa and the world.
Tinubu said:

“We are a great nation bound as one by the green-white-green banner of resilience, joy, hope, duty, and untiring love.
“To those cherished Nigerian youths expressing their gifts in communities, drawing lines in the sand as they play football in their humble rectangles of play, you can be our heroes tomorrow, do not relent in your pursuit.
“My administration is here to make dreams come true.”
