"Hunger Pushed Me" - Man Who Stole Tubers Of Yam Pleads | Daily Report Nigeria

A man has pleaded for leniency after being arraigned to court for stealing.

According to reports, the accused, identified as Cletus Gandu, a 40-year-old man had confessed to stealing two tubers of yam on Wednesday, July 31st, after being charges by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) charged Gandu with criminal trespass and theft, according to NAN.

It Was gathered that the complaint, Alice Daniel had reported the matter at the corp’s office in Kafanchan on July 15, alleging that the defendant had stolen her yam from her farm on two occasions.

Gandu told the Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State:

”Hunger pushed me to steal yam on two occasions.”

“I beg for leniency.”

The judge ordered that he should be remanded.
