Communities Receive Free Medical Outreach in Burutu Federal Constituency | Daily Report Nigeria

Riverine communities across the Burutu Federal Constituency have been greeted with a free medical outreach.

The exercise, which spanned through Monday, September 2, 2024, to Wednesday, September 4 , 2024, was held in Tuomo, Tamigbe, and Ojobo communities in the Constituency.

The free medical outreach was facilitated by Julius Pondi, the lawmaker representing the Constituency in the House of Representatives, in collaboration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) and Pekjul Integrated Services.

Addressing newsmen at Tuomo where the outreach was flagged off, Pondi said the exercise was aimed at ensuring the physical well-being of his constituents.

The lawmaker, who was represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Tonkiri Apu, said the exercise was purely aimed at attaining good health for the people.

“The aim of this program is to reach out to as many as possible persons in Burutu Federal Constituency to create a healthy environment for all.

“Health is wealth, and we thought it wise to make sure that as many people as possible are made healthy to enable them to face their daily endeavors.

“I am convinced that at the end of this exercise, the health of these people would have been greatly affected positively,” Apu said.

The lawmaker said the exercise will further be spread to other communities in the constituency, adding that seeing his constituents healthy was a priority.

On her part, Pharm.(Mrs.) Obianuju Obinna-Ezenwanne, Assistant director, Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, Delta State office, said the exercise was caught out to help alleviate the various health challenges facing rural dwellers.

“We are all here to cater for the health needs of these people, and so far, it has gone quite well. Thank God we’re achieving our aim already,” Obinna-Ezenwanne said.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke with our correspondent poured encomiums on the lawmaker for finding it worthy to provide free healthcare for them.

The outreach featured home medical care for the elderly, screening, counselling, consultations, dispensing of drugs and glasses.

Surgeries were also conducted for appendectomy, Herniorrhaphy, Hydrocelectomy, Lipoma surgery, and herniotomy.

The exercises witnessed over 854 beneficiaries cutting across the three communities, treated for malaria, diabetes, glaucoma, arthritis, asthma, and over 50 other diseases.
