Libyan Driver Arrested For Smuggling Nigerian Man, Women | Daily Report Nigeria

A Libyan driver has been arrested during an attempt to smuggle some Nigerians.

According to reports from the Migrant Rescue Watch, the server was arrested while attempting to smuggle the Nigerians, a man and two women from Sabha to Benghazi with forged documents.

Confirming the arrest, the Brega police was said to have detained the driver and the migrants on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

 

Police in Brega during road control seized a vehicle and arrested a Libyan driver for an attempted human smuggling of undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality (7 women & 1 man) who were in possession of forged Libyan documents,” MRW stated.

 

“During police interrogation, the driver admitted to transporting the migrants for financial gain (500 LYD/ca. 104 USD per person) from Sabha to Benghazi. 

“All remain in police custody pending referral to public prosecution
