Senate Suspends Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan For Six Months

The Nigerian Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP Kogi Central) for six months, following allegations of disorderly conduct during a plenary session on February 20, 2025.

The suspension was based on the recommendation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conducts, and Public Petitions, which investigated the allegations against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan.

According to reports, the committee’s chairman, Senator Neda Imasuen, recommended that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s salary and staff be halted during the suspension period.

The Senate adopted the committee’s recommendation, leading to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension.

Court Stops Senate Committee from Investigating Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

A High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has issued an interim order refraining the Senate Ethics Committee from proceeding with its planned investigation of the actions of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, on the floor of the house.

Justice Obiora Egwuatu gave the order on Tuesday following an ex parte application filed by counsels to the senator representing Kogi Central, Akpoti-Uduaghan.
