The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has intensified its campaign of violence against Christian communities in northeastern Nigeria, setting fire to a Christian village in Adamawa State and issuing threats against residents.

Details of the attack emerged after security analyst Brant Philip shared footage and images allegedly released by the terrorist group, showing the village engulfed in flames.

According to Philip, ISWAP declared that Christians across Nigeria are considered legitimate targets, warning affected residents that they could avoid further attacks only by converting to Islam or paying the jizyah tax imposed by the group.

“ISWAP released an image of one of the Christian villages in Adamawa State burning, alongside a statement declaring that all Christians in Nigeria are legitimate targets,” Philip wrote on X.

The attack is believed to be in retaliation for recent military operations targeting terrorist strongholds. Five days earlier, United States President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces, in collaboration with Nigerian security agencies, carried out airstrikes on ISWAP positions in Sokoto State.

Security sources say the development underscores the continued threat posed by extremist groups in the region, despite ongoing counterterrorism operations.
