No fewer than 18 persons have been killed following a deadly attack by suspected repentant bandits in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The violence erupted in Falale village after vigilantes on patrol intercepted and engaged three suspected bandits in a gunfight, leading to their deaths.
In retaliation, armed bandits launched a coordinated attack on the community, killing at least 15 residents, including members of the vigilante group.

The spokesperson of the Katsina State Police Command, Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed that security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area, restoring normalcy.
Authorities said a joint security team comprising the police, Department of State Services, Civilian Watch, and community leaders worked together to contain the situation and prevent further casualties.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Muazu, noted that the clash triggered the reprisal attack but assured that the situation is now under control.
He added that investigations are ongoing to track down those responsible for the killings, as security agencies intensify efforts to safeguard affected communities.
