The National Assembly is prepared to embark on two-month long annual recess on Thursday.

The House Committee had on Monday adjourned its investigative hearing sine die (indefinitely) following the sudden collapse of Prof Daniel Pondei, MD of the NDDC while being grilled by the House Committee on the Commission.

Also, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, had series of arguments with the Committee, accusing lawmakers of being beneficiaries of 60% of contracts from the NDDC.

The House had denied the allegations during the plenary on Tuesday, while the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, directed Akpabio to publish details of the contracts within 48 hours or be made to face “the full wrath of the law.”

The issued by the Speaker ultimatum expires on Thursday, same day the House would hold its last sitting for the legislative year.

According Punch, Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Benjamin Kalu, stated that the report by the committee was already being prepared as at Wednesday.

Over at the Senate, a member of the ad hoc committee probing the NDDC also disclosed that the report by the panel was ready for presentation at plenary slated for Thursday.
