Abia: Bishop Onuoha Wins ADC Governorship Ticket

A Bishop of Methodist Church, Sunday Onuoha of Nigeria, has been declared the Abia State governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the just concluded primary elections held in the state.

Onuoha polled 330 votes to defeat a close rival, Otisi Ebitu-Ukiwe, who scored 160 votes.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Mr Nkem Ukandu, announced the results of the primaries, after voting and compilation exercise.

According to a press release issued on Sunday in Umuahia, the state capital, by the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the state chapter of the African Democratic Congress, Kelechi Lekwuwa Kalu, a total of 20 votes were voided during the governorship primary elections.

He said, “This is the official report from the media and publicity department of Abia State chapter of ADC for our gubernatorial primaries.

“After accreditation and result compilation by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) and the INEC returning officer, we had a total 510 votes, a number of 20 votes were voided; Otisi Ebitu-Ukiwe, scored a total of 160 votes cast, and while, Bishop Sunday Ndukwo scored a total of 330 votes.

“And hence, by the power vested on him as the returning officer of the process by INEC, Mr Nkem Ukandu, declared Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha as the candidate of ADC for the 2023 elections”
