Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles’s manager has explained why he recalled Odion Ighalo back to Super Eagles.
The former Manchester United striker has hung his boot against playing for the senior team of Nigeria since three years ago.
The 32-year-old therefore rejoined the Super Eagles’ workforce ahead of AFCON 2021, after a call-up by the German manager.

Even so, fans and journalists have disapproved of the invitation insisting that Ighalo’s return could hinder the improvement of the young forwarders in the squad.
Reacting, the 68-year-old coach mentioned ‘experience’ behind why the Lagos-born striker was brought back to the squad.

He revealed this amid interrogations from journalists on Thursday.
Rohr also said the current Al Shabab’s star is motivated and set to help the team.
Rohr said: “Ighalo wanted to stop after the 2019 AFCON, he changed his club and wanted to spend time with his family but now the motivation is here for him to comeback and help us.”
“We have a very young team, we have Musa with his experience but we need another one with his experience, professionalism which can help the young players.”
