Senegal star Sadio Mané has been named Player of the Tournament at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, capping a memorable campaign that ended with the Teranga Lions lifting the continental trophy.
Mané received the top individual honour at the AFCON awards ceremony following Senegal’s dramatic triumph over hosts Morocco in the final.
One of Senegal’s captains, the forward was influential throughout the tournament, earning praise for his leadership, consistency and match-winning presence.
The awards panel highlighted Mané’s all-round contribution, from goals and assists to his calm authority in tense moments as the reason he stood out among the competition’s best players.
“His leadership on and off the pitch defined Senegal’s campaign,” the panel noted.
Mané also played a key role in ensuring the controversial final against Morocco was completed, a moment that further strengthened his case for the award.
Golden Boot & Golden Glove Winners
Morocco’s Brahim Díaz finished as the tournament’s top scorer, claiming the Golden Boot with five goals.
The Real Madrid midfielder had a chance to extend his tally in the final but failed to convert a penalty, opting for a Panenka that was comfortably saved by Senegal goalkeeper Édouard Mendy.
That moment proved pivotal, shifting momentum firmly in Senegal’s favour.
Meanwhile, Moroccan shot-stopper Yassine Bounou won the Golden Glove after producing a series of outstanding performances, including multiple clean sheets and crucial saves.
