The All Progressives Congress (APC), has demanded for probe of former Kogi senator, Dino Melaye, and other top-ranking members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over reports linking them to suspected internet fraudster, Hushpuppi.
Nigerian investigative journalist, Kemi Olunloyo, had hinted on her media handle on alleged reports linking top-ranking PDP members, including former Kogi senator “Dino Melaye”, former Senate President “Bukola Saraki”, PDP’s 2019 presidential candidate “Atiku Abubakar”, former House of Reps Speaker “Yakubu Dogara”, and other PDP stalwarts, to suspected fraudster, Hushpuppi.
Daily Report Nigeria had earlier today confirmed the extradition of suspected fraudster, Hushpuppi, from the United Arab Emirates to the US, to face some criminal charges and a likely 20 years imprisonment for committing a series of cyber crimes worth N168bn.
While the probe request by the APC was contained in a statement signed by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekina Nabena, in Abuja on Saturday, it stated that it was instructive to note that the suspect, Hushpuppi, was arrested in Dubai, which was a destination of choice for most top-ranking PDP members prior to the 2019 general elections.
It further demanded the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, and other sister agencies to investigate the money laundering reports linking some top-ranking PDP members to the Dubai-based internet fraudster, Hushpuppi.
