Armed Robbers Invade Ibadan Polytechnic, Shoot Lecturer

Some armed robbers in the early hours of Monday, December 20, invaded The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Oyo State

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Soladoye Adewole, who confirmed the incident, said the attack occurred at about 12:30 a.m at the North campus of the polytechnic.

The robbers during the invasion stormed some flats housing some lecturers of the institution and carted away property worth millions of naira.

One of the lecturers in the institution, identified as Emmanuel Okedara, was shot. He was rushed to the University College Hospital, Ibadan for treatment.

Adewole said that no life was lost while the lecturer, who had gunshot wounds, is responding to treatment

The matter has been reported to the police and security has been scaled up at the campus, he added.
