Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake, recently discussed the challenges of finding employment in Nigeria while having tattoos.

In an interview featured in GQ magazine, the artist, who sports a neck tattoo, revealed that stereotypes surrounding tattoos in Nigeria make it difficult for individuals like himself to secure traditional jobs or engage in business ventures.

“In Nigeria, if you have a tattoo on your neck, you can’t work anywhere. I can’t work for any company. I can’t sell anything.”

Asake emphasized that his journey to stardom in the music industry was far from an overnight success, debunking any notions of sudden fame.

“You have to understand: I got there in two years, but I’ve been working for years. People are counting the days you’re successful. They don’t count the days you’ve been working towards it. Nobody gives a fvck about that,” Asake said.
