ECOWAS Orders immediate Military Action Against Niger Junta

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has ordered military intervention in Niger Republic.

This is as the regional body called on its standby force to restore constitutional order in the West African country.

ECOWAS President, Omar Alieu Touray, gave the order while reading the body’s resolution on the Niger coup at the ECOWAS Extraordinary meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

ECOWAE further called on the African Union, partner countries, and institutions to support the resolution taken by the sub-regional body.
