According to residents, the bandits arrived at the school on motorbikes as the pupils were about to close for the day.

Witnesses say the gunmen shot sporadically to cause commotion in the school premises, and to scare away passersby.

“The gunmen forced the teacher and the pupils on their motorcycles before they zoomed off towards the forest and since then, nobody has heard anything about them,” a resident said.

The gunmen had not made any contact with the school or families of the kidnap victims to demand ransom as at press time.

Also, neither the school authority nor the Katsina State Police Command had made any public statements as at the time of filing this report.
