Peter Igbifa impeached by Parliament

The President of Ijaw Youth Council, Dcn Peter Igbifa has been impeached.

The President of the 8th NEC was impeached by the 5th Mobile Parliament during plenary on Sunday, in Otuagabi, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

The impeachment followed a motion by Ellington Bakumor (Obotebe) for “Parliament to impeach Igbifa on the grounds of divide and rule, abuse of power, misappropriation of funds, disrespect and undermining of legislative powers and executive rascality”, and seconded by Vincent Kingdom (Olodioma).

IYC Constitution: Parliament Orders NECO to Maintain Status

Speaker of the Parliament, Bob Collins Igetei subsequently announced Igbifa’s impeachment following a unanimous vote by members.

The Parliament further ordered for Igbifa’s deputy, “Saviour Olali to act as President of council and call for a national convention in no more than 72 hours.”

Also Mr. Solomon Oran was sacked as Chairman of the Electoral Committee for his role in disrupting the activities of transition.
