The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have categorically rejected the proposed new minimum wage of N54,000 put forward by the Federal Government led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Daily Report Nigeria earlier reported the N54,000 proposal made during a closed-door meeting at the Nicon Luxury Hotel in Abuja on Tuesday, which was attended by representatives from both the government and the Labour Unions.

The Federal Government had initially offered N48,000 which was also rejected as it was contrary to the N615,000 minimum wage demanded by the NLC and TUC.
According to reports, the meeting was adjourned until Wednesday, May 22, to allow for further negotiations and deliberations.

Meanwhile, the Organised Labour has given the Federal Government an ultimatum to conclude negotiations for a new minimum wage by the end of May.
